Rescue Reparative Baobab Oil Hair Serum Review

Above: The Rescue Baobab Serum comes in a pearly bottle with an extremely efficient pump.

Hair oils and serums are tricky...too rich, and hair is weighed down and limp...too light and their efficacy is dubious at best.  In the past, I have used Moroccan Oil but found it to be inconvenient, difficult to dispense (I hated having to pour it into my hand before applying) and extremely heavy.

However, there are times, especially in the winter when the air is dry and the moisture is all but absent in my house as our heater incessantly runs, when I need an extra boost of hydration that traditional conditioner cannot provide.  I recently got the chance to try Rescue Reparative Baobab Oil Hair Serum, which has changed my mind about hair serums!  This particular rendition is light yet extremely moisturizing and leaves me with a remarkably silky and manageable mane.

Above: I love products that have a minimum amount of ingredients.

The star ingredient of this product, which retails for $50, is the Baobab Oil...it contains a collection of vitamins (e.g, A, D, and E ) that helps to nourish hair and impart a lovely sheen that is neither oily nor greasy.  In fact, once the serum is distributed in my hair, it absorbs so quickly that I cannot detect where it was applied!

Like the other products in the Rescue line, this serum has an intoxicating sweet vanilla musk scent that is both comforting and gourmand in nature.  It is akin to the aroma of Moroccan Oil, however, I much prefer the packaging and overall texture of the Rescue; it absorbs more easily and the pump bottle is clean and time-efficient.  A single pump is sufficient to cover the expanse of my thick, long hair!

Above: A drop of the the serum on my hand...it is clear and light, yet packs a moisturizing punch!

Here is how I use it: After shampooing, I skip conditioner and towel dry my hair.  Then, I distribute a single pump of the product on the second half of my hair and brush it through so that it covers the ends.  I follow up with a stint under the blow dryer and, voila...smooth, silky, lush hair that is soft to the touch.  Brilliant!

The next few images reflect my hair after having used the Rescue Reparative Baobab Oil Hair Serum on the second half of my locks...I just brushed it through and blow dried it for 10 minutes!

Bottom Line: The Rescue Reparative Baobab Oil Hair Serum  is a welcome addition to my hair routine.  I wash everyday and have to switch up my shampoo and conditioning regimen (I typically alternate between the Rescue Baobab shampoo and conditioner or John Frieda Go Blonder) to keep my hair from getting "immune" to a certain product.  This serum gives me even greater variety and I love using it in place of conditioner to detangle, soften, hydrate and enhance shine.  Highly recommended!

Have you tried a hair serum or oil?  Thoughts?!
