make up forever ultra hd foundation stick swatches
Above: True to its name, the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation is beautifully imperceptible on the skin.
As aforementioned, this summer has been rife with foundation releases.  Last week, I shared a swatch-heavy overview of all 40 shades of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Foundation and today, I am excited to present the latest base release from the line: *MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation.  This ultra smooth formula offers buildable coverage and an invisible finish, making it one of the most natural looking foundation sticks I've encountered to date!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches of all 15 shades and images of the foundation in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: All 15 shades in direct sunlight.
The first time I applied the Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation (my perfect match is #123/Y365 Desert, just like in the liquid), I was blown away by how adeptly it provided coverage while looking like nothing on the skin.  Only a few swipes, strategically placed along the perimeter of the face and down the center of the nose and inner cheeks, are necessary to banish flaws on contact.  I prefer buffing the formula into the skin with a slightly dampened Beauty Blender for the most seamless effect.

After having worked with this foundation for over a week, here are my observations:
  • It provides buildable coverage (light, all the way to full) and layers beautifully without looking the slightest bit obvious.
  • It has a buttery smooth texture that melts into the skin without feeling heavy.  It is more hydrating than the Tom Ford Foundation Stick and more pigmented than the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick.
  • The finish is a satin matte...there is no obvious shimmer but I love how the skin has a healthy glow following application.
  • The lasting power is absolutely stupendous, especially for a cream formula; I've been getting 6-7 touch up free hours of wear, even in warm and humid weather.
  • It is definitely an HD foundation...it doesn't pool in pores, migrate into fine lines or slide around the face.  Once I apply it, it truly is difficult for me to see the formula but I know it is there due to my even-toned canvas.
  • This formula contains no fragrance and has been kind to my very sensitive skin.
  • Due to the smooth and blendable texture, darker shades can easily transition into creamy bronzer and contour options, lending to the overall utility of the formula.
  • In sum, I haven't been this excited about a foundation stick in ages...such a brilliant release!

Onto the swatches...

I shot all 15 shades in outdoor light (e.g., direct sun, shade and shade with a flash) to provide the best possible context for shade depiction.  The shades with a "Y" in their name have a warm/golden/yellow undertone and the shades with a "R" lean rosy to pink in undertone.  Those shades with two sets of numbers show the direct correlation between a shade in the original formula and the new formula (e.g., 110/R220).  Don't forget to click on images to further enlarge them!

Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Silky Moist Compact Powder: Review + Swatches of Every Shade!

Above: Next-level powder, courtesy of Koh Gen Do.
Earlier this summer, the transcendent Koh Gen Do line released its Maifanshi Silky Moist Compact Powder.  This luxurious, finely-milled formula adds coverage, blurs imperfections and banishes oil without a powdery finish, making it my powder staple for the past few months. After numerous mentions on BP (HERE and HERE to start), I am excited to share a comprehensive overview of the powder, with swatches of each of the six shade offerings!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the KGD Silky Moist Compact Powder in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: All six shades work well with fair to medium skintones.
The second one touches the Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Silky Moist Compact Powder, it is abundantly clear that this is unlike most powders on the market.  The formula, which comes in six shades, feels buttery smooth and almost creamy in texture, instantly melding with the skin upon contact.

Designed to impart coverage while still somehow being invisible to the naked eye (talk about high-def!), this unscented powder feels soft and comforting on the skin, and, unlike its some of its dry contemporaries, it leaves skin balanced and hydrated over the course of wear.

In my experience, the Maifanshi Silky Moist Compact Powder:
  • Offers light to medium coverage...I prefer to wear this over a foundation to refine imperfections, set makeup and keep the center of my face from getting oily.
  • Is friendly to sensitive skin...no irritation and no added sunscreen, meaning you can use the SPF protection that works best with your chemistry.
  • Has a natural matte finish that somehow, miraculously, also allows the skin to look radiant.  This duality is truly the best of both worlds!
  • Possesses outstanding lasting powder...one application yeilds 5-6 hours of performance, even on a hot and humid day.  That being said, the compact (which has a generous mirror, I might add) has a guaranteed place in my purse for easy and immediate access.
  • All in all, this powder is a next-level formula boasting the coveted trifecta of coverage, refinement and lasting power, while simultaneously not looking like "powder" on the skin...bravo!

Above: Each powder refill is housed in a reusable plastic case, making changing out shades over the course of the year a waste-free enterprise.

A silky powder foundation that delivers flawless coverage for an everyday 'no makeup' look without a powdery white cast.

**Compact Case is sold separately**

• Gloss Film Powder delivers 5 functions of skin perfection properties: High Adhesion for easy application and long wear, Luster, Skin Color Correction, Helps Prevent White Casts and Double Water-Repellent Coating
• Controls sweat and oil
• Conceals appearance of pores and fines lines for a transparent complexion
• Natural Moisturizing properties: Perilla Ocymoides Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Silk, Hydrolyzed Yeast Extract and Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic

**One makeup sponge included. Compact Case is sold separately**

Bottom Line:  The Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Silky Moist Compact Powder is the creme de la creme of powder options.  It provides significant coverage without looking the slightest bit cakey or conspicuous, thereby smoothing and perfecting the skin while valiantly challenging preconceptions about powder.  Due to its excellence, I hope that Koh Gen Do decides to release additional shades so darker skin tones can partake in its impressive performance, too.  In sum, I am confident that powder lovers will be positively smitten with this formula and I implore those who may have had an aversion to powder in the past to consider giving this exceptional release a try; I daresay, minds just might be changed!

What are some of YOUR favorite powder formulas as of late?

3 Summertime Loves: Boots, Books and Lip Gloss

$
0
0

This post is dedicated to three things I love: boots, books and lip gloss.  The tail end of summertime has finally afforded me the chance to read a few books at the same time, and, in light of their themes, I've selected coordinating lip glosses that capture the unique energy of each tome.  I hope you enjoy the juxtaposition!
Kindly scroll on for more details and swatches as well as the Bottom Line...

BOOTS: I just picked up these Coconuts by Matisse Lambert Booties (also available on Amazon) last week and am utterly smitten.  Super soft suede and freeflowing fringe make these equal parts comfortable and unique.  The first day I wore them, I had no less than five people ask me where I got them and, perhaps the best part, they are under $100! For reference, I generally wear between a 6 1/2 and 7 and the 6 1/2 fit perfectly.

BOOKS: As a rule, I am a voracious reader; however, the teaching, grading, writing, product testing and photography that dominate my adult life has drastically reduced my time to delve into a good book.  August, thankfully, has gifted me a bit of down time to read and I am currently in the midst of simultaneously inhaling three books:

Above: Marc Jacobs Pink Steam for pearly lilac pink lips...and I am excited to see the results of my 5lb weight training finally (partially) manifest on my arms.
Above: I had to briefly preview the stunning Tom Ford highlighting Duo in Moodlight (worn on my cheeks in the images above and below)...all I can say is that this powder pairing makes the skin look its best...so worth it.
Above: Wearing Marc Jacobs Pink Steam lipgloss and a dash of the new Tom Ford highlighting Duo in Moodlight...so good!

(1) Jackie Collins'The Santangelos: Allow me to presumptively acknowledge that Jackie Collins is a guilty pleasure.  Her juicy characters, ritzy settings and outrageously carnal plots, combined with lavish wealth make for an entrancing read in the summertime sun.  Steeped in family drama and intrigue, The Santangelos runs true to formula and does not disappoint. Due to their splash of color and opulent, reflective shine, I paired the lush pink Dior Addict Fluid Stick in Versatile (formula reviewed HERE) and decadent peach Surratt Beauty Lip Lustre in Charmante.

(2) Mary Quant's Quant on Quant: I have an affinity for all things 1960's and who better than to embody the decade than the impeccable Mary Quant.  Her autobiography reads like a diary and I find myself relishing every captivating detail of a bygone era in fashion and history.  Since her mod look was rife with nude lips, I choose the scrumptiously pale nude rose NARS Lip Gloss in Chelsea Girls and shimmering beige Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Naked (reviewed HERE).

(3) Alicia Drake's The Beautiful Fall: I am positively devouring this in-depth exploration of one of the most seminal times in fashion history, lead by the venerable Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld.  From their teenage years all the way through the height of hedonism in 1970s Paris, Drake's detailed account of both the friendship and the rivalry between YLS and Lagerfeld is unabashedly riveting.   I selected the lilac purple Marc Jacobs Enamored Lip Gloss in Pink Steam (reviewed HERE) and blazing coral Smith & Cult Lip Gloss in Fade the Sun (reviewed HERE) to capture the dazzlingly chic Parisian disco days.

(3) LIP GLOSS:  Although they've been mentioned above, here is the official rundown of all six shades:

Bottom Line: There you have it...3 summertime loves incarnate.  I truly hope you found this post entertaining and would love to know what has been inspiring YOU in August...do tell!

Good things ahead, including more foundation, some green beauty, a fresh video (in the process of being edited down to a reasonably watchable length) and new product procurements aplenty.

Have a beautiful day...xx,

Rhapsody in Nude + Cream: Skincare and Beauty at Its Best

Something about the intense heat of August has made me gravitate towards the calming simplicity of nudes and creams.  These serene shades impart an illusion of cool that refreshes my spirit and renews my outlook!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line...

SKINCARE: For me, August has been all about restoring my skin as it battles sweltering days and environmental stresses.  Consequently, I have been loving...
  • *Orlane Brightening Micellar Water: A super gentle cleansing water that removes even the most stalwart make up...love how this nourishes my skin.
  • *Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist:  A cult favorite for a reason, this light and fragrant mist refreshes skin, sets make up and adds a dewy sheen...so beautiful.
  • *LiftLab Lift + Fix:  This soothing serum is brimming with anti-inflammatory ingredients to calm irritated skin.  Excellent to combat redness, as a post-sun exposure salve and to use anytime the skin needs extra tending, I keep this formula in the fridge for an extra refreshing experience!
  • *Mila Moursi pH Balancing Toner (reviewed HERE): A daily staple for my skin, this formula is great for keeping me balanced and clear.
  • *Kate Somerville Mega-C Dual Radiance Serum: I have been using this at nights, alternating it with RetASphere Micro Peel (a favorite regimen of Kate herself) and am endlessly pleased by how smooth and bright the pairing has made my skin.
  • *Kate Somerville RetASphere Micro Peel:  Strong and effective, yet completely kind to sensitive skin (note: no peeling), every other night use of this formula has resurfaced my skin, enhancing clarity and glow.
  • *Eve Lom Flawless Radiance Primer SPF 30: This mattifying primer is the perfect base to extend the wear time of powder and liquid foundation; additionally, it blurs pores and shields skin with SPF 30 protection.
  • La Prairie Eye and Lip Perfection a Porter (reviewed HERE): A luxurious option for hydrating lips and eyes on the go, this compact gem is always in my handbag.
  • Talika Lipocels Eyelash Conditioning Gel: I have been using this for the past two weeks and am stunned by how much longer, darker and fuller my lashes have become.  One of the longest-standing lash-enhancing formulas on the market, I trust its high-performance ingredients near my perpetually allergy-ridden eyes!
  • M. Micallef Ananda Dolce fragrance: Peachy with a twist of musky almond, this scent smells unlike anything else I currently own.

BEAUTY: Soft, easy to wear shades and textures have been calling my name lately; they receive bonus points if they are definitively neutral!  These gems include:
  • Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion #25 (reviewed HERE): I have lauded the many merits of this skincare-drenched foundation. From impeccable coverage to immense lasting power, it's my favorite cushion compact to date!
  • Tom Ford Foundation Powder #4 Fawn (swatched below): This brand new powder from the venerable Tom Ford line is so finely milled that photographing an accurate swatch was a challenge.  It imparts sheer, all the way to medium coverage and can be used over or in place of liquid or cream foundation.  For reference #04 Fawn is an apropos match for my NC 25-27 skin.
  • Tom Ford Moodlight Illuminating Duo (also discussed HERE and swatched below):  The upper powder yields a light golden glow while the darker shade couples as a delicate bronzer; the transformative effects this compact has on the face are stellar.
  • *Omorovicza Mineral Touch (reviewed HERE and swatched below): Silky smooth and highly pigmented, I love using this formula to brighten the under eye region.
  • *Guerlain Mono Eyeshadow in Taupe Secret (swatched below): For a wash of shimmering pale taupe color, this gorgeously-executed eye shadow is an excellent option.
  • MustaeV Color Powder in Champagne (swatched below):  I love using this diminuative jar of light to highlight the eye area...it is weightless and blends with a spectrum of shades.
  • By Terry Terrybly Mascara (reviewed HERE):  A super lush formula that nourishes lashes while adding spectacular depth, length and volume.
  • Chikuhodo GSN 04 Brush (reviewed HERE): One of my favorite cheek brushes ever, this fluffy wonder is perpetually in my makeup bag.
  • Artis Circle 1 Brush:  The densely packed bristles of this revolutionary brush are marvelous for adeptly applying eyeshadow...I love how color is deposited and blended on my lids. Keep an eye out for a full Artis Brush overview in the very near future!
  • Dior Dior Addict Fluid Stick in Avante-Garde (swatched below):  I generally go for peaches and pinks but this darker nude brown was screaming "fall" and I ordered it on a whim. I am so glad I did as it has just the right touch of 90's minimalist grunge to change one's look while still looking natural.
  • Rouge Bunny Rouge Swell Bliss Lip Plumper in Clover Royal Jelly (swatched below): This luscious lip plumper hydrates and volumizes without irritation and Clover Royal Jelly is the perfect shade of creamy nude pink to wear alone or over a darker shade (as done in the images that follow).  As a special promotion, Beauty Professor readers who use the code RBR-BEAUTYPROFESSOR20 will receive 20% off of their Rouge Bunny Rouge Web Boutique order!

Oasis Alert: The Armani Ecstasy Lacquer...Overview + Swatches

It seems at every turn, there is a new incarnation of matte liquid lip color being released.  Although I am all for a velvety matte lip from time to time, I generally prefer a shinier formula that makes lips look lush, juicy and full.  Enter the latest from Giorgio Armani: *The Ecstasy Laquer.  Currently available online at Giorgio Armani Beauty and slated for widespread release at Armani counters at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Saks later on this month, this hydrating lip color-meets stain-meets-luminous gloss is a veritable oasis in a sprawling desert of opaque matte lips.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the formula in action...

Available in both subtly metallic and cellophane-like varnish finishes, the Ecstasy Laquer feels divine on the lips.  The angled doe foot applicator applies the perfect amount of this entirely non-sticky elixir and one can achieve long-lasting sheer, all the way to opaque coverage in a couple of coats.

Upon application, my lips feel moisturized and comfortable and the insanely-pigmented formula keeps my lips shrouded in bold color for hours on end!

There are 18 diverse shades in total and I had the privilege of trying seven of them; shade descriptions and swatches for those specific shades (in bold) follow below:

SHADES
  • 200 Night Berry (metallic effect): A deep blood red with slighly warm leanings, this shade is a gorgeous interpretation of the oxblood trend.

Happy Fourth of July Weekend...Red, White and Blue and Mini-Road Trip Recap

Above: Red, White and Blue beauty and skincare for this Independence Day weekend.
Happy Fourth of July weekend!  I hope the first few days of July have been magnificent for you.  Late last night, I returned from a whirlwind 40-hour camping trip (more on that later on in this post!) and am getting back into the swing of things before celebrating Independence Day with my family.  Indubitably, for me the holiday at its core is all about freedom and a profoundly patriotic sense of thanks for America, but I couldn't help but also be inspired by the red, white and blue of some of my favorite beauty and skincare products!

Kindly scroll on for a full product breakdown as well as a mini-recap of my recent roadtrip up the coast of California as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: Who knew this nude and neutral-toned lover had so many red, white and blue products that I love?!
Beauty and Skincare...Red, White and Blue Edition:
Above: Pup-wrangling at the rest stop...my mom and I are always amused by how delightfully exhausting
Onto the road trip recap...earlier this week, my dad, brother and husband departed for their annual kayak fishing trip near Big Sur, CA.  They spend their days on the boats, enjoying God's beauty and living off the land (or should I say, sea) and their evenings camping at Limekiln, a historic plot of land off of Highway 101, surrounded by forest, streams and the Pacific Ocean.  Feeling adventurous, my mom and I decided to meet them up there for their last night and day and proceeded to embrace streamlined packing (an entirely different future post!) and a sense of spirit as we traveled six hours with two lively dogs!

Above: The view from the beach...the bridge is a stretch of Highway 101...it makes one feel so small.
Above: Jethro feeling at home in the back of our car...he is such a great traveler.
Above: My brother's dog, Jasper...he is only one and has the most gorgeous hair I've ever seen!

Above: Natural travel-friendly makeup, including MAC Faux lipstick (discussed HERE).

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this dual-purposed post and look forward to hearing how your July is going thus far...travels?  Work?  Other adventures?  Please share!

As aforementioned, I had absolutely no cell signal or Internet access for the past two days (totally unplugging is equal parts refreshing and overwhelming!) and now in the midst of preparing to respond to your lovely emails and comments...thanks for your patience.

Good things ahead, including a closeup of my Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson order, a fresh FOTD, a peek at some new neutral MAC products and an overview of the chic Guerlain Summer 2015 collection (was waiting on the sun to make an appearance to finish photography).

After sharing an overview of the LE Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson Collection at the end of June (HERE) and offering a sneak peek of some of my procurements in my June Favorites video, I am now beyond thrilled to be able to share a bevy of images focused on my three must-haves from the collection.

Kindly scroll on for more details, closeups, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line...
Above: Inside the On-Call Makeup Bag.

(1) The On-Call Makeup Bag (also pictured at start of post) is made of a quality water-resistant material that feels relatively impervious to the perils of makeup stains.  The interior has a smart divider for greater organization of products...brilliant!

Above: The image on the front of the Dreamy Glow Highlighter is stunning, no?
(2) The Dreamy Glow Highlighter is utterly lovely.  The gossamer-smooth and finely-milled powder lends an ethereal luminosity to the skin.  This highlighter is incredibly subtle for a believable "lit from within" effect; the powder could best be described as a golden champagne hue...it has a touch more beige than the "glow" side of the Bronze and Glow and creates a gentle warmth that is endlessly flattering.  So glad I chose this!

(3) The Matte Revolution Lipstick in Miss Kensington is my first lip color from the Matte Revolution line.  The texture is like velvet and it glides onto the lips with little to no drag; although it has "matte" in its moniker, the formula feels light and hydrating while still offering remarkable pigmentation.  Best described as a "light peachy pink nude," this is a touch more pale than B*tch Perfect and has less beige than Penelope Pink and Nude Kate.  It sum, it just may be my favorite lipstick shade thus far from the Charlotte Tilbury line. Miss Kensington is an imperative procurement for nude lovers everywhere!

Bottom Line:  I hope you enjoyed this overview of my selections from the Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson Collection.  I also plan on picking up the creamy Filmstar Bronze and Glow in Sun Tan and Sun Light next, especially now that it's available on its own!  In light of how quickly the original powder version initially sold out, this is taking my "musts" from three to four in a flash.

The Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson collection is currently available at charlottetilbury.com and will be available on July 9, 2015 at Bergdorf Goodman and on July 23, 2015 at NordstromNet-a-Porter and Beautylish.  What do YOU have your eye on?

Good things ahead, including a fresh style-centric post and my comprehensive Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shopping guide, slated to go live on Thursday, June 9th...in the meanwhile, here are some important dates to keep in mind:

On Location Style + Beauty: FBF by Checka Nagare Wrap and Neutrals from MAC and Guerlain

Above: FBF by Check Nagare Wrap.
Last week, I spent sometime on the coast of Central California (detailed HERE); this gorgeous stretch of land and sea afforded me the perfect opportunity to wear (yet again!) my *Nagare Wrap from the emerging independent line FBF by Checka.  Currently in the midst of a Kickstarter campaign (contribute and get a FBF by Checka tank top), this brand, designed by LA local Francesca Skwark, features creative pieces with a casual flair.   Inspired by the streamlined genius of this particular wrap--note the black, white and gray color palette, flowing lines and unique layered cut--I coupled it with curated neutral makeup favorites for a breezy take on coastal style.

Kindly scroll on for more images, beauty details, swatches and the products in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: Worn with a simple black tank, Rag and Bone Dre Boyfriend Jeans (reviewed HERE) and some black Ash high tops, the Nagare Wrap exudes casual chic.
Above: It's an excellent summer wrap for cooler mornings and breezy afternoons.
Above: I love garments with a generous amount of material...you?
Beauty Details:

Above: Products for a pared down and neutral look.
Since I was technically camping at Limekiln, I kept my beauty look pared down and focused on neutrals, the likes of which included:

Above: Although it was overcast, the UV rays were strong--I combatted potential damage with the Amore Pacific Resort Collection Sun Protection Stick SPF 50.  Great for touchups on the go, the stunning gold tube can be easily tossed into a handbag.
Above: Some simple MAC neutrals...Soft and Gentle and Cherish.
Above: A swatch of MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle...this highlighter holds its own amongst many more expensive versions I own.
Above: MAC Cherish brings me back to my college days...I don't know why it took me so long to return to this subtle yet pigmented nude!

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this on-location style and beauty post and, if you like to cocoon yourself in soft fabric, I encourage you to take a peek at the Nagare Wrap.  I love to support independent brands whenever possible, especially when the style resonates with my own aesthetic and as aforementioned, FBF by Checka is in the final two weeks of a Kickstarter campaign

Good things ahead, including a fresh style-centric post and my comprehensive Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shopping guide, slated to go live tomorrow (Thursday, June 9th)...in the meanwhile, here are some important dates to keep in mind:

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Guide + My Purchases in Action!

Above: Extra early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale = an extremely pictorial shopping guide.
This year, Nordstrom offered Tier 4 Rewards Members unprecedented early access (one day in advance of the current early access!) to the spectacular Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which enabled me to leisurely peruse the spectrum of offerings (Mikayla in the TBD Dept. at Nordstrom Cerritos is incredible!) and promptly photograph everything I took home.  My assistant Laura and I shot everything in my backyard in less than an hour (then, the sun went down); this rapid fire capture guarantees an authentic visual experience with each piece so you can ascertain color, fit and flow unmitigated by elaborate lighting and photo editing magic.  Towards the end of the post, I have also listed my recommendations in other major categories as I couldn't fit everything into the fleeting moments of our late afternoon shoot!

To shop early access this minute, Nordstrom Rewards members (e.g., card holders) simply need to confirm their email and the last four digits of their card number...visit HERE to get started!

Kindly scroll on for a pictoral shopping guide, additional recommendations and the Bottom Line...
eileen fisher knee length a line skirt
Above: This silk Joie tank and Eileen Fisher skirt make for a classic pairing, no?
(1) Joie Shara B Silk Print Top (worn in a size XS) and Eileen Fisher Knee Length A-Line Skirt (size XS)...together, this duo delivers a classic energy, reminiscent of films from the early 1960's.  The tank top can be dressed up or down (as shown in #2) and I adore the fact that the skirt has pockets! Both will be unique pieces in my current wardrobe.

j brand love story jeans
Above: The Joie tank also takes a casual turn when matched with the delightfully flaired Love Story jeans.
(2) Joie Shara B Silk Print Top and J Brand Love Story Jeans (worn in size 24)...the silk tank becomes casual when left partially untucked in these darling flared jeans, which, I might add, have made quite a comeback this season.  This particular pair, which runs true to size, has just enough stretch to slim and shape while simultaneously feeling endlessly comfortable.

topshop milo split back tank
Above: The delicate pink split back tank is chic and playful.
(3) Topshop Milo Split Back Tank (worn in a size 6) and  J Brand Love Story Jeans work together to craft a swingy vibe that is equal parts flirty and sophisticated.  I love that I can wear both pieces just as easily in the summer as I can in early fall.

laura mercier lip parfait amaretto swirl pink grapefruit
Above: The brand new Laura Mercier Lip Parfaits in Amaretto Swirl and Pink Grapefruit...nude pink and pinky coral boxes beautifully checked.
(4) I couldn't help but be lured by the siren song of a fresh lip color release from Laura Mercier...the decadently creamy and pigmented Lip Parfait formula yields intense hydration and major coverage in a single swipe.  Needless to say, it was an easy decision to take home both the pinky nude Amaretto Swirl and the light coral Pink Grapefruit shade.  So very beautiful and apropos for the summer months!

leith crepe trapeze dress
Above: This swingy trapeze dress is a stunning shade of olive for easy neutral dressing.
(5) This olive green Leith Crepe Trapeze dress (worn in a size small) was a steal at $38...it is swingy and fresh while still being long enough to comfortably function.   I paired it with Donald Pliner booties (detailed below) but this could easily be taken up a notch with a pair of platforms or heels and a great coat...versatility at its best.

donald pliner dalis booties
Above: Donald Pliner Dalis booties are a marvelous blend of taupe, gray and black...chameleons, indeed.
(6) Donald Pliner Dalis booties...I am smitten with everything about these boots.  From the supple leather to the utilitarian color (is it gray? Taupe? Black? All three?), these embossed wonders (which are quite comfortable, I might add) have a side zipper for easy "put on and take off" and a glorious 2 1/2 inch heel for just the right amount of height.  These are my first pair of Donald Pliners...beyond excited.

hinge faux suede a line miniskirt
Above: Camouflage + miniskirt = unexpected style.
(7) Hinge Faux Suede A-Line Miniskirt, Honeydew Burnout French Terry Camouflage Sweatshirt and Donald Pliner Dalis booties...I am happy that all three of these pieces work well together but will probably be even more effective when combined with other wardobe staples.  I have a weak spot for camouflage so the sweatshirt was a must and the skirt has pockets and a super soft sueded finish, adding to its unique flair.

free people stick detail plaid shirt
Above: These patched jeans have a relaxed fit that all but begs for a plaid companion.
(8) Treasure & Bond Boyfriend Jeans (worn in size 24) and Free People Stich Detail Plaid Shirt...this is one of my favorite types of "default" outfits.  The jeans are soft and well cut and this plaid shirt has gorgeously distinct detailing along the shoulders.  Both will get plenty of wear together and apart!

Above: This textured tunic is so unique...I am going to try wearing it with black skinny jeans next!
(9) Trouve Textured Knit Tunic and Treasure & Bond Boyfriend Jeans worn with Donald Pliner Dalis booties...the tunic possesses remarkable length and a streamlined vibe that is classic yet modern; it is also absolutely befitting for work.

topshop splice dress
Above: This teal sheath has creative cutouts near the shoulder area for an unexpected pop of style.
(10) Topshop Shoulder Splice Ribbed Body Con Dress (worn in a size 6) and similar shoes by Vince  HERE...equally excellent for a business meeting or business dinner, this sheath is body conscious while still being endlessly tasteful.  The shoulder splice detail adds an intriguing element, making this dress undeniably unique in my wardrobe.

topshop long belted camel coat
Above: This camel coat is a steal at its pricepoint...I suspect it will sell out in a flash.
(11) Topshop Long Belted Coat...having had excellent experience with Topshop coats in the past, I have been waiting for the line to release a coat like this.  It is very reminiscent of the class Max Mara style and this fully-lined, well-executed version will be a staple for me, come the cooler months of autumn and winter.

Above: The flare pants have an approximately 35 inch inseam and a super soft texture.
(12) H.I.P Mixed Print Flare Leg Pants (worn in a size XS) and black tee with holes...the pieces in this casual lounging outfit were not an official part of the Anniversary Sale but the reasonable pricing made it well worth the splurge.

Two New Classics: Armour Beauty V Gloss in Audrey + Ardency Inn Easy Ride Eyeliner

armour beauty audrey v gloss
Above: Armour Beauty V Gloss in Audrey.
Armour Beauty, created by the brilliant Theo Kogan, has a singular specialty: lip gloss.  In a world of brands with expansive product skews and constant seasonal collection releases, this laser sharp focus on one ubiquitous product is refreshing.  I have discussed my love for the line many times over (HEREHERE and HERE) and today I am excited to share the latest from Armour...the *V Gloss in Audrey.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of Audrey (as well as the new ARDENCY INN Modster Easy Ride Eyeliner) in action...

armour beauty audrey v gloss
Above: Deeply pigmented, the Audrey V Gloss yields opaque coverage in one coat.
Inspired by the humanitarian goodwill and iconic beauty of Audrey Hepburn, the Audrey V gloss is a rich, pigment-saturated rose pink with cool mauve undertones and no shimmer.  The "V" label denotes a few key guarantees including:
  • Ingredients rich in natural oils and butters to moisturize and protect lips...shea butter, avocado, mango seed, olive butters, grape seed oil and Vitamin E.
  • A vanilla/grapefruit scent
  • Vegan, paraben free, gluten free and completely cruelty free distinctions
  • Natural based, long-wearing performance
Although Audrey is a touch darker than shades I usually gravitate towards, I find it to be a refeshingly bright and cheerful.  Paired with a simple cat eye and a gently-bronzed complexion, it works well as the central zone of focus!

From a formula perspective, the Armour Beauty V Gloss is slightly sticky but all together very manageable...I prefer a bit of tack in my lip glosses; when they are too silky, they tend to slide all over the place, leading to imprecise lines and disappointing lasting power.  Conversely, Audrey's longevity is as impressive as all other Armour Beauty glosses I've experienced.  One swipe creates hydrating, opaque coverage that comfortably lasts for 5-6 hours without touchups!

If you haven't yet tried Armour Beauty glosses, I implore you to consider doing so...especially if you prefer long lasting opacity as I do.

Bottom Line:  Both the Armour Beauty V Gloss in Audrey and Ardency Inn Modster Easy Ride Eyeliner are lovely additions to my collection due to their versatility, extremely effective performance and individual abilities to create a modern yet classic look.  Have YOU tried anything from either line? Thoughts?

Good things ahead including a hair-centric post, an overview of some of the vitamins/supplements I currently take and new product procurements a plenty!

Rapid Review: 8 Things I'm Currently Loving

Above: 8 things I'm currently loving.
I hope your week is off to a marvelous start! I am happy to share a succinct rundown of 8 of my current loves as of late; in the spirit of the brevity of this post, I shot all of the images that follow in less than 4 minutes! Mostly beauty with a dash of fashion thrown in for good measure, these choices are summertime delights, indeed.

Kindly scroll on for more details and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: Sulwhasoo foundation, Smith & Cult nail polish and Gucci eyeshadow, resplendent in the sunshine.
(1) Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion SPF 50+: Ever on a foundation hunt, this is the latest cushion compact to capture my heart.  Shade 25 is a great neutral to yellow beige for NC 25-30 skin and the medium to full coverage is somehow nearly invisible on the skin.  SPF 50 protection adds a formidable layer of long-lasting defense and I've preliminarily found that it photographs as well with a flash as without.  Full review (with swatches!) to come...
(2) Viseart Blush in Pivoine (formula reviewed HERE): This cool toned medium pink lends a perfect pop of color to the cheeks...shimmer free, it looks entirely natural.
(3) Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss in French Tickler (formula reviewed HERE): Non-sticky, wildly reflective and slightly minty, this latest gloss formulation from the Marc Jacobs Beauty line is pure luxury.  French Tickler is a tender baby peach shade that looks fetching alone or over lip color (as demonstrated in the images that follow).
(4) *Chikuhodo GSN 04 Blush Brush (reviewed HERE and HERE): I have used this ultra-soft brush consistently since receiving it a couple of months ago...it adeptly applies bronzer and blush with ease for a gorgeously well-distributed effect.
(5) *Gucci Magnetic Eye Shadow Duo in Aristocratic (reviewed HERE): This creamy matte taupe and shimmering thistle pairing creates a demure neutral eye that can be smoked up with extra reliance on the darker shade.  The shadows are silky, saturated with pigment and crease-resistant...just gorgeous!
Above: Swatches of Gucci Magnetic Eye Shadow Duo in Aristocratic in direct sunlight.
(6) Laura Mercier Lip Parfait in Pink Grapefruit (swatched and reviewed HERE): Immensely pigmented and endlessly hydrating, this is one of my favorite lip formula discoveries this year.  Pink Grapefruit is a bright pink-tinged coral
(7) Zinke Wrap Bikini Top: Although I wear bikini tops most days when I'm at home in the summer (they're a relaxed "base" for a casual outfit), I don't wear swimwear on my blog (probably something to do with my teaching career!).  That being said, this is my favorite bikini top to date (and you can catch another glimpse of it on the blog HERE); the wrap style is unique and feels comfortably secure and the solid color pairs well with a spectrum of bottoms.  Reviews demonstrate that this top runs a bit small...I generally wear an extra small or small in tops and I am a perfect medium in this style.  I'll be ordering two backups in the Ardesia and Black shades this week!
Above: The Zinke Wrap Bikini Top in Ardesia.
(8) Smith & Cult Nail Lacquer in Ghost Edit: My first nail polish from the venerable Smith & Cult line (next up for review, glosses!!!), this semi-sheer nude pink beige makes nails look glossy, healthy and chic in two coats. It applies smoothly and has very respectable lasting power.  I am confident that this will not be the last Smith & Cult polish in my collection...so good!

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this rapid review of some summer gems...what are YOU currently loving?

Also, have you indulged in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale yet?  If you missed my shopping guide, do take a peek...I just picked up these Ferragamo loafers for my brother's birthday later on this week!

Good things ahead, including a round of new products, a hair-centric post, a video tutorial and a Guerlain summer intensive...

Bright Colors and Buttondowns: MAKE Cosmetics and a Nordstrom Sale Shopping Guide Update

Above: MAKE Cosmetics Face Gloss, Defining Mascara and Matte Lipsticks in Jakarta and Fire.
Sometimes one needs a shock of color to break up a routine...enter MAKE beauty.  Although the Defining Mascara is a classic black and the Face gloss is, dare I say it, translucent, the matte lipstick is wildly pigmented and I have to shades to show you today that definitely challenged my pinky nude regimen!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches, images of the products in action and my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Guide Update featuring Equipment France as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: Matte Lipsticks in Jakarta and Fire.
I have been impressed with MAKE (available at Barney's NY and Birchbox) for quite awhile (see previous reviews HERE and HERE) and was thrilled to be able to give some of the line's more recent releases a try:
  • *MAKE Matte Lipsticks in Jakarta and Fire:  This lipstick is positively saturated in vibrant pigment; it delivers a lovely matte finish that has major impact without feeling dry...its velvet texture glides on lips and the lasting power is significant.  The deep aubergine Jakarta applies semi- sheer but reaches full opacity in a second coat.  Fire is a breathtaking bright orange that is somehow entirely wearable when the rest of one's make up is restrained...I love this shade.
  • *MAKE Face Gloss: This cushiony gel is perfectly clear (read: no shimmer whatsoever) for the most naturally radiant finish to the skin known to man.  Just a drop, tapped with my ring finger along my brown bone, upper cheek bones and down the bridge of my nose instantly creates an ethereally dewy glow that doesn't feel the slightest bit sticky...absolutely brilliant!
  • *MAKE Defining Mascara: Jet black for lush lashes, the tapered cone of the wand allows for even distribution of the rich formula to even the tiniest of lashes.

Bottom Line: Streamlined and subtle, the MAKE cosmetics line is beautifully-executed.  I am loving the bold and transformative effect of the Matte Lipsticks in Jakarta and Fire and know that the luminous Face Gloss will be a staple in my handbag.

Finally, I hope you found the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale update helpful...the markdowns on brand new Equipment France pieces are too marvelous to miss!

Bottom Line: I hope you found this top 25 list inspiring and useful; I'm discovering that the older I get, the more I only want to buy what I am certain I will actually wear and use.  No more pursuing products that "look pretty" but aren't practical for my everyday life. Consequently, my list reflects this pragmatism!

What is YOUR shopping philosophy?  Please share (along with your Nordstrom Anniversary Sale finds) in the comments section.

Good things ahead including bronzer and haircare intensives and a host of new product procurements...xx,

The Marc Jacobs Re(Marcable) Full Cover Foundation Concentrate, slated for official release on Tuesday 7/21/15, is on the cusp of its debut and I am excited to offer you a first look at this otherworldy formula!

Kindly scroll on for more details, comparison swatches, a closeup of the new Chanel Ilusion D'Ombre in New Moon and images of the foundation and eyeshadow in action as well as the Bottom Line...

I can honestly say, that of the four (five, if you include powder) Marc Jacobs Beauty foundation formulas I've tried over the past two years, this is exceedingly the most impressive!  As one who loves "full bodied" foundation formulas (that is, medium to full coverage), the opacity of a single drop alone was enough to capture my heart.  And so I'll be abundantly direct: this foundation is extraordinarily pigmented! Four dots (forehead, both cheeks and chin) buffed in with a damp Beauty Blender are all that is necessary for beautiful full coverage that simply looks like really good skin.

Coverage, however is certainly not enough if the texture, finish and performance are lacking; I am happy to report that these qualities are also favorable.  The Re(Marc)Able foundation is smooth (but not too silky or "silicon-y") and weightless feeling on the skin.  Once the delightfully un-scented serum-esque formula dries down (in a few seconds), the velvety aftermath results in blurred pores, concealed imperfections and a very natural finish (not too matte or too dewy).  Additionally, in my first trial run, I got 7 hours of comfortable, touch up free wear (in warm humidity, no less) and I didn't even set it with a powder preliminarily.

In sum, I am wildly fascinated by the Re(Marcable) Full Cover Foundation Concentrate.  I conceed, this love affair is new; consequently, I can't wait to continue experimenting with the formula in different weather contexts...I'll weigh back in soon with my final verdict!

Bottom Line: The Marc Jacobs Re(Marc)Able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate, refreshingly, is exactly what its moniker states; the coverage is exceptional, the texture is weightless, the finish is natural and the lasting power is significant.  I suspect that foundation-philes are going to fall in love with this formula the second they apply their first blissfully opaque drop!

Will YOU be trying the Re(Marc)Able foundation?

Additionally, Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in New Moon is a neutral lover's must...the delicate, rosy taupe luminosity is flattering on a spectrum of eye colors and the ease of wear and longevity cannot be beat.

Good things ahead, including more new foundation formula overviews, a hair-centric post and fresh product procurements!

I hope your week is off to a beautiful start...xx,

4 Foundations for the Sweltering Summertime Heat

$

Above: Four foundations to fight the summer heat and one beautiful brush for good measure.
Living in Southern California, I know that it is positively gauche to complain about the weather; we know that we are blessed with one of the most temperate climates in the world! That being said, boy has it been hot and humid lately; instead of complaining, however, I been using this sweltering spell as a chance to test the longevity and humidity-proof properties of some new foundation formulas in my rotation.  I have determined four new formulas that have proven to have stalwart performance in the face of extreme heat!

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the formulas in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: Formidable foundations.
The four foundations (which that I have found to be particularly powerful in extreme heat are as follows:

(1) Marc Jacobs Re(Marcable) Full Cover Foundation Concentrate (reviewed HERE): I am over the moon for this new formula that officially launched TODAY.  The intense pigmentation means a little goes a long way and while the coverage is wholly full at first application, it looks extremely natural on the skin.  The lasting power, even for combination skin facing intense humidit, is truly terrific...today, I got 9+ hours of touch up free wear (as demonstrated by the images at the end of the post).  I haven't been this excited about a liquid foundation--for reference, Beige Golden is currently a spot on match--since the Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting debuted last summer!

(2) Make Up For Ever Ultra HD (full overview soon): I do declare that this reformulated version of the original MUFE HD foundation is a significant improvement; it has much more pigment, dramatically increased lasting power (6+ hours, even in heat) and a decidedly smoother finish (that doesn't pool in pores as the original version, in my experience, did).  With 40 shades, from the palest alabaster to the deepest ebony (I wear shade #123), everyone is sure to find a match, making this new formula one of the most inclusive ranges on the market.

(3)  Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet (closeup soon): I haven't found a shade match in Chanel foundation in a few years but this formula has changed all this; the Lumiere Velvet formula (in shade 40 Beige) has a flattering matte finish that doesn't look flat.  Although it may look neutral to pink in the swatch, it blends perfectly with my current NC 27-30 skin and doesn't oxidize as the day wears on.  Medium coverage is acheived in a single layer and, once set, the formula doesn't budge, even in the rain (as I experienced yesterday...more on this later on this week!).  It is, without question, my favorite foundation formula in the Chanel line.

(4) Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion in #25 (reviewed HERE): In my experience, this is the cushion compact gold standard...if you can find a match (there are currently only two shades in the US market and #25 Deep Beige adapts beautifully to NC 25-30 skin), you will be enchanted by the buildable medium to full coverage that looks nearly invisible on the skin.  With SPF 50, minimal scent, and 8+ hour lasting power, I cannot laud it enough!

Above: The Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion in #25 is a perfect match for my NC 25-27 skin...my favorite cushion compact to date!
Above: Brush poetry...the Artis Elite Mirror Oval 10 Brush (more on this innovative line forthcomng!) and Chikuhodo GSN 8 perform as stunningly as they look.
Above: Products for a long lasting summertime look.
For the look that follows, I shot the images at the end of the day after having worn all the products listed below for 7-8 hours, thereby reflecting their impressive efficacy and performance in 90 degree weather with well over 70 percent humidity:

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this summertime foundation story and would love to hear which formulas you've been gravitating towards in the warmth...do tell!

As aforementioned, the brilliant Marc Jacobs Re(Marcable) Full Cover Foundation Concentrate launches today and the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet, Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion and MUFE Ultra HD (with a range of swatches to come!) are equally marvelous options.

Good things ahead, including bronzer talk, even more foundation and a haircare-centric feature...I am also working my way through your lovely comments and emails, thanks, as always, for your patience!

Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head: Chanel Fall 2015 Collection Swatches + a Tropical Look

Above: Kissed by the rain.
Up until a couple of days ago, we were experiencing anomalous rainstorms here at the beach...although, it was unexpected, the precipitation is greatly needed!  Now it's rather sweltering, but the images from my rain soaked shoot that weekend remain and, incidentally, feature a closeup of the stunning Chanel Fall 2015 Les Automnales collection (currently also available at Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales) as well as a tropical beauty look.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches and images of the products in action as well as the Bottom Line...

Above: Chanel Fall 2015 Les Automnales collection
When I first spied the new Les Automnales collection at Nordstrom, I initially only bought the Illusion D'Ombre shadow in New Moon (reviewed HERE, soon to be sold out at Nordstrom and otherwise only available at Chanel.com).  A second glance at the display a couple days later and I was captivated by the nearly orange allure of the Rouge-Gorge Ilusion D'Ombre (also available at Chanel and used in the beauty look that follows).  I also was compelled to take a closer look at the Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation (released last year and currently a repromote in the fall collection); Beige 40 was a unprecedented match for my NC 27 skin (and I never find a foundation match in Chanel) and I loved the semi-matte medium to full coverage, especially in light of the extreme humidity we've been experiencing!

After making my selections and securing a backup of the transcendent New Moon, I swiftly swatched every product in the collection (sans nail polish); as aforementioned, most products are currently available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales.

Onto the closeup of my choices and the tropical beauty look...

Above: Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation in B40 and the Ilusion D'Ombre in Rouge-Gorge.
I built the foundation of my beauty look on the satin-matte Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation in B40 (reviewed HERE) and the Ilusion D'Ombre in Rouge-Gorge.  This created an even, natural canvas with remarkable warmth in the orbital area...add a dash of luminosity, a subtle bronze cheek and a glossy pink lip and the result was pure tropicality.  I had to come in twice over the course of the afternoon due to the torrential rain...adventures in beauty blogging ; )

Above: The Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation in B40 is a great match for my current NC 27-30 skin...it may look pink and a touch dark in swatches but it becomes perfectly neutral on my visage and holds up so well (no oxidation), even in adverse weather.
Above: Rouge-Gorge closeup...I have NOTHING like this in my current collection.
Above: A heavy swatch of Rouge-Gorge; it's matte but somehow luminous, adds radiant warmth to the eyes and I am curious to try a bit on my cheeks next!

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this image-heavy, swatch-laden, rain-drenched tropically-inspired Chanel love fest!  I am guessing that is not a sentence that regularly appears on beauty blogs but it just felt right in light of the context and content ; )

What did YOU choose from the Chanel Fall 2015 Les Automnales collection

Strategic Beauty + Style for a Hot Day at Disneyland: What I Wore and What I Brought

$

Above: Skincare and beauty choices for my day at Disneyland.
Summertime in Southern California is not complete without a requisite trip to Disneyland.  Despite the August heat and hoards of visitors converging at the peak of travel season, the iconic atmosphere, abundant food, amusing rides and endless people watching (!) make the $100 ticket well worth the investment (memories for life...priceless).  My family and I went earlier this week and, consequently, this post is dedicated to the skincare, beauty and style I strategically selected for the 14 hour day we spent at the park.

Kindly scroll on for more details, swatches

Because I knew the day would probably not afford any high-maintenance touchup moments, I chose a simple battery of skincare (just the basics to balance, hydrate and prime the skin) and long lasting, neutral beauty.  I have had a copious amount of past experience with each of the products used, which guaranteed the predictability of their performance in a hot environment.  Consequently, I would recommend this curated list to anyone seeking major longevity in their skincare and beauty!

SKINCARE:  I pared it down to clean and simple for balanced skin and protected skin...this included:

FACE: I gave my base product choices some serious thought before deciding upon a portable cushion compact with SPF 50 (no need to bring additional sunscreen!) and neutral cheeks...this included:
Above: The Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector...a bouncy, ultra-thin, nearly-invisible, cream-to-powder formula that completely perfects skin.  I like wearing over foundation or AS a foundation.  Medium is good for N/NC 25-30 skin.
Above: Eye strategy.
EYES: I embraced a slightly rosy neutral taupe look that wouldn't crease, fade, flake or smear...this included:
Above: Lip strategy.
LIPS:  I chose a longlasting peachy pink lipliner and an ultra-hydrating, color-drenched lip balm that could be reapplied without a mirror...this included:
Above: Swatches of all products in direct sunlight.
Above: Style strategy.
STYLE:  I opted for maximum comfort and ease in the sweltering humidity...this included:

The following images reflect all products in action first thing in the morning before heading for our 14-hour day...it was initially overcast but the sun came out in full force by noon:

Above: Strategic beauty on the go...this was in my bag all day!
WHAT I CARRIED in MY BAG:  Everything I might need for a 14 hour day...I am pleased to say that nearly every single one of these products got used at some point!

  • Sulwahsoo Perfecting Cushion #25 (reviewed HERE)
  • A touch of the Stila Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector in Medium (swatched below)...this incredible find adds coverage, blurs pores, mattifies and is amazing for a mid-day touchup.  I have never tried anything like it and now don't know what I'd do without it...I implore you to give it a spin.
  • Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer in Beige (reviewed HERE)
  • *Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in Lumious Bronze (reviewed HERE) applied with my *Chikuhodo GSN 04 Brush...review HERE
  • Visart Blush in Angora (reviewed HERE)
  • Jouer Cream Eyeshadow in Chiffon as a highlighter (reviewed HERE)
  • *Koh Gen Do Silky Moist Powder in #123 (reviewed HERE)
  • By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon...review HERE...I didn't want to carry the Burberry as it is in a glass jar and this gorgeous taupe is perfect on the go.  It's permanently in my makeup bag!
  • Marc Jacobs Poutliner in Honeybun (reviewed HERE)
  • Laura Mercier Lip Parfait in Amaretto Swirl (reviewed HERE)

  • Above: Snapshots from the day (clockwise from upper left corner): A new friend that I met on the Storybook boat ride, Sleeping Beauty's Castle, sibling time, our Space Mountain photo, my husband and I on Autopia, a giant Frappucino, my favorite corndogs ever, my parentss and Main Street USA.  Also, I never needed anything more than my Freepeople shirt for warmth and my makeup held up like a champ (with no sunburn in sight!).
    Above: Last look.

    --Shop the Post--

Bottom Line: I hope you enjoyed this Disneyland-inspired story!  Whether you live nearby to the "Happiest Place on Earth" or not, the products discussed are collectively stellar for long days in warm and humid weather.

What are some of YOUR strategic beauty choices for an amusement park-type situation?  Do share!

Good things ahead, including more foundation swatches and a host of new releases...stay tuned.  Also, I am working my way through responding to your lovely comments and emails; thanks for your patience.

    Have a marvelous Thursday...xx,
